An early acquisition by the NCMF for the Museum was the INFORM system which is a modern state of the art hand held tour guide system which is also used by the Louvre in Paris, The Museum of Modern Art in New York City and in some seventy major museums and similar sites world wide. The NCMF paid for the development of the script for many of the Museum exhibits and bought 25 of the units.
The units are made available to visitors who can take a self-guided tour of the Museum and key into the unit the number of the exhibit they are viewing to get a presentation on the exhibits significance in cryptologic history.
The units are a supplement to the Museum docents who provide guided tours for individuals and groups and are able to answer questions and tailor their presentations to the visitors interests.
